Tensile Strength

Tensile testing is probably the most fundamental mechanical test for sheet metal. Tensile testing is relatively simple and inexpensive. It is also follows established standards to ensure uniformity of application and results suitable for comparison. Simply put, tensile test equipment pulls a standardized sample along a single axis until it fails. We measure the material as it is pulled to determine the material's elongation, tensile strength, yield strength, and the range of engineering stress and strain the material can handle before it loses strength (n-value). We can test to ASTM, JIS, or ISO standards.
